If You Have Received a Letter of Attendance

If you have received a Letter of Attendance, please contact the mobile number shown on the letter to discuss your case with the attending Enforcement Agent.

If you already have an existing arrangement regarding your debt, or documentation that may pause or prevent enforcement, please contact the office using the details on your letter and provide evidence of any of the following where applicable:

  • Breathing Space
  • Individual Voluntary Agreement (IVA)
  • Debt Relief Order (DRO)
  • Debt Management Plan (DMP)
  • Court Order (Including Variations)

You are responsible for informing us if such an arrangement is in place.

Enforcement must continue until the relevant documentation has been received and verified.

Please do not rely on a third party to notify us on your behalf.

Your Rights During Enforcement

Enforcement is carried out under High Court Writ of Control. This allows the Enforcement Agent to take control of goods if payment is not made. However, enforcement is regulated and your rights are protected.

You have the right to:

  • Advance Notice: You must receive a Notice of Enforcement before any attendance at your property.
  • Peaceful Entry: You are not required to allow entry to your home. An Enforcement Agent may only enter peacefully.
  • Assistance: You may seek help from a third party (such as a debt adviser, friend, or representative).
  • Protection of Essential Goods: Items necessary for basic living (for example, clothing, beds, and essential household appliances) cannot be seized.
  • Make a Complaint: You may make a complaint regarding the conduct of Enforcement Agents or office staff. Please refer to our Complaints Policy
  • Additional Support if Vulnerable: if you are, or believe you may be, vulnerable, additional consideration will be given. Please refer to our Vulnerable Consumer Policy
  • Transparent Fees: Enforcement fees are charged in accordance with the Taking Control of Goods (Fees) Regulations 2014
  • Dispute the Debt: if you believe the debt is not owed, you may apply to dispute the claim through the County Court. Please notify us if you choose to do so.
  • Advice: You may seek free advice and information from third-parties, such as AdviceUK, National Debtline, Money Advice Service and Gov.uk.
